In this online workshop you will learn 3 folding techniques that can be used to hide text or images in a book format. You will be creating sample pieces that can be expanded into or added to a book. There will be examples of completed books and if time allows some other ideas for adding secrets to books. This workshop is for all levels; some origami folding experience is helpful, but not necessary.
Gina Pisello has a background in biology and secondary deaf education. She has been a book artist for over 20 years. She has taught book arts classes in person and virtually since 2004. Her practice includes creating unique structures, altering books and making sculptural book objects. Her work is in several private collections as well as the University of Washington, The University of South Dakota, and the University of Puget Sound. You can see her work at: www.ginapisello.com.
Participant materials list:
- 12 sheets of 6 x 6 inch (15 x 15cm) paper. (origami paper is ideal, but any text weight paper will work)
- 1 sheet of 2.25 x 24 inch (5.7 x 60.5 cm) text weight or cardstock weight paper
- Bone folder
- Optional: scissors
