How to Make a Quarter-Size Zine

with Adriana & Katy

February 11, 2021

4-5pm

Hosted by Collins Library, courtesy of Zoom

Registration is required

Learn a new Zine format from Collins Library staff Katy Curtis and Adriana Flores just in time for Valentine’s Day!  Open to PSBA Members & Guests.  This event is free, but Registration is required to receive the Zoom link.  The Zoom link will be sent out approximately 2 days before the event.

Back by popular demand, join zine enthusiasts Adriana Flores, Archivist and Special Collections Librarian, and Katy Curtis, Humanities Librarian, from Collins Library for an informal, hands-on zine event! Zines are small-format, low-budget, self-published pamphlets that celebrate niche interests, foreground personal narratives, or explore a topic you are passionate about. In this workshop, Adriana & Katy will lead participants in an engaging quarter-size zine tutorial. Quarter-size zines allow you a lot of space to explore a topic, so come with a zine theme ready to go. This event is free, but Registration is required to receive the Zoom link.  The Zoom link will be sent out approximately 2 days before the event.

Since it is February consider exploring themes from Valentine’s Day to President’s Day to the Golden Globes, pick a timely or festive theme and come ready to create!

For this Zoom event, you’ll need the following supplies:

  • Paper (preferably 8x11 printer paper, but any rectangular paper will work!)
  • Writing implements (pen, pencil, markers, gel pens, etc.)
  • Scissors (if you don’t have scissors, you can tear it)
  • A stapler or needle/thread for binding
  • Optional: Glue stick or tape, stickers, decorative paper, magazines/news clippings, and anything else you want to create with (photographs, wrapping paper, dried plants, fabric, etc!)
