Puget Sound Book Artists FIRST EVER Book Exchange Program

Time Frame:  For our first exchange, we have a generous time frame.  The exchange will take place at the first Salon of the fall season, September 8, 2019.  You do not have to attend the event to participate if you can mail in or drop off your book in advance. We will then mail or deliver the book you receive in the blind exchange.

Theme:  Pocketbook  Did you know that the term pocketbook originated in the 17th century to describe a small book to be carried in one's pocket and eventually came to reference a women's purse?  We selected the theme of pocketbook because we felt it resonated with the upcoming exhibition All Stitched Up.  A pocket is sewn into or on clothing and used in carrying small articles.  But the word pocket might also conjure up a quite different meaning with synonyms such as take, steal and purloin that come to mind.  How will you interpret a pocketbook?  We can't wait to see.

Design Guidelines:  There is just one design guideline.  Your book should be a size that would fit in the average size pocket!

Reminders will be emailed throughout the months leading up to the September exchange event. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact one of the Board Members or Bonnie Julien (bonnie.julien@gmail.com). To see more examples of NORBAG members’ exchange books, go to www.norbag.net and click on the link to the Guild’s flickr album.  Click on a photo to see the colophon for that book.
