Printing from a plate made from the common ingredient of gelatin offers a variety of ways to create surface designs on paper to use in your work. Pressed plants, stencils, and stamps, either commercial or hand carved, can be used to create subtle and stunning effects.
Come join our facilitator Deborah Greenwood, a working artist living in Tacoma, Washington whose creative practice includes collage, artist-made books and papermaking. Repurposing materials has been an ongoing theme in her artworks, most recently in the area of papermaking by the crafting of pulp from everyday garden materials.
Supplies:
Mulberry and Kozo paper, inks, brayers and gelatin trays will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring any paper samples of their own for experimentation.
Water, coffee, tea and snacks will be provided, but be sure to bring a lunch.
