10th Anniversary Celebration: Honoring Clarissa Sligh
We honor the work of artist Clarissa Sligh who inspired so many of us when she visited Puget Sound in 2017. Clarissa donated her crane art to the organization as well as her sculpture Hope to the Collins Library. We acknowledge our many members who have supported the 10th anniversary fundraising effort and each of you will receive a string of cranes made by Clarissa. We also acknowledge the generous gift of $10,000 from an anonymous donor. As an organization, we are committed to using these funds to support book artists and to continue to build an inclusive community of members.
Speaker: Curtis Small, University of Delaware.
We are pleased to welcome scholar and librarian Curtis Small. Curtis is the Coordinator of Public Services for Special Collections at the University of Delaware Library, Museums and Press. He is responsible for overseeing the reference, instruction and exhibition programs. He also serves on the team of the award-winning Colored Conventions Project (CCP) that documents seven decades of 19th-century Black political organizing. Founded at the University of Delaware, CCP now anchors the newly launched Center for Black Digital Humanities/#DigBlk at the Pennsylvania State University. As a public-facing digital research center, #DigBlk engages public and scholarly audiences in innovative, community-based research, archive creation, and interactive-digital exhibition making.
